Abstract

|
The report is given on 4 cases of surgically treated pancreatic pseudocyst at Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, Ewha Womans University from April, 1962 to Nov. 1973.
1) An account of pancreatic psudocyst, which is a lessc- ommon cause of abdominal swelling, is given.
2) Various methods of treatment are described.
3) A series of 4 patients with pseudocyst of pancreas is reported.
4) The treatment in each case is described.
Pseudocysts usually develop as a complication of other diseases which affect the pancreas, including. acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic injuries and carcinoma.
Although the exact etiology is difficult to determine at the operating or autopsy table, pseudocysts often appear to be related to either duct obstruction or disruption of ductal continuity.
